2008 is going to be amazing. Difficult. Challenging. Probably disappointing. But hopefully rewarding. If I can just stay on track.
We're moving to St. Louis in April. Actually I am thinking of staying until May, when the lease is up. Lucky won't want to, but I am having some difficulty leaving Mr. Meers. He doesn't want me to go, i don't really want to leave him high and dry. He's really the only factor making me doubt this move. If I could only have more time with him, if I could just get things in order for him before I go... Sigh. Its a lot of work.
I want to start selling all of the things I know I can make, if only I can wrap my head around HOW to do that. That's actually what I want to write about here today. This is a short list of what i think I can mass produce (on a one person scale, of course) enough of to sell and support myself. I'll have to do all or a combination of these things.
~Letterpressed Notecards and ephemera, stationery and custom anything. I should market these to upscale shoppes and also have some Etsy store or something.
~Knitted items: scarves, toys, shrugs. Smallish things I can make with out having to charge for dozens of hours of labour.
~children's clothing. I love making kids clothes(small and fast!), and I know I can make some great stuff for boutiques.
~Needle Books. Tiny books with fabric pages for storing sewing needles.
~Knitted kitty toys. Sell these at the counter in pet shops.
So in order for that to happen I must construct some sort of organizational timeline. Perhaps go month by month and begin Making these things and establishing an inventory. Just a small, manageable inventory. See what things sell best and then focus on those. I should be able to make projections based on a few months of sales right? I know nothing about business.
Ok I just want ed to get that out of my head. Now, i need to clean up the spare room and print!

Thanksgiving
This year was the first year that I didn't participate in any festivities. Lucky worked, I stayed home and cleaned the house, and made a nice dinner. No parties, no family, no crazy over-eating. It was pretty great. Here's the menu I made for Lucky and myself:
Appetizer: Savory sausage-stuffed mushrooms (vegan) with balsamic reduction
Main Dish: Sweet stuffed Acorn squash with black currants and almonds.
Side: Garlic mashed golden potatoes with mushroom gravy.
Dessert: Apple Orange-Cranberry Pie with Vanilla ice cream.
Not a single turkey was harmed, and those stuffed squash beat out boring turkey any day.
I am thankful for the ability to make my own traditions.

Busy Little bee
What I've done so far this weekend:
Saturday
1. Went to Mr. Meers house and actually cleared off a surface. I mean threw away two trash bags of old papers, magazines and junk mail and got to the surface of a table.
2. Met with Cathie at mr. Meers, showed her around and got her excited about buying some of the significant peices of Mr. Meers collection.
3. Deep cleaned the cat box. Kittes are much happier now.
4. Made pasta and had dinner with Jessi, who I haven't seen all week and she lives in the same house as I do.
5. Answered back-log of emails and did more research online.
6. Took a long relaxing soak in the tub with some delicious Lush "Bathos" bubble bath. so nice.
Today
1. Fixed the internet connection. The network crashed sometime around 2 am, and all computers reverted to a static IP. (???) I reset everything. Modems, routers and individual connections. ugh.
2. Fixed the bottom drawer of my desk for good. The bottom kept falling out. I ripped out all the nails and reassembled it. While I was on hold with tech support for the crashed modem by the way. They never answered.
2. Organized some flickr photos, tagged, sorted and uploaded all the rest i've been meaning to get to.
3. Created a knitting pattern template in Word so know I can copy and paste patterns and print them out in booklet format to carry around easier. No more crumpled full size sheets at the bottom of the knitting bag!
4. Went back to Mr. Meers to get some cuts and paper to make my Mom's Xmas present.
5. Washed the dishes.
6. Photographed new yarn for Ravelry, photographed vintage paper stock to show off on BP.
7. Called Marvin Envelope and requested a catalogue. Meaning to do that all summer.
Ah. I feel acomplished.
